Cecilia Willis, the Decatur County Clerk of Courts incumbent, has announced her intention to run for a third term.

Willis is a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Bainbridge College and has lived in Decatur County her whole life.

She said one of her biggest accomplishments has been providing online services for many of the functions within the office. One of her goals that Willis is still working on is the digitization of older court documents.

Willis said she was a proponent of having the clerk’s office open to the public. From records to explaining the court process to those preparing for a criminal trial, Willis and her co-workers have the office door open.

“As long as it is information that is available, then they can have the information, they can have the process explained to them,” Willis said. “It’s not my clerks office, it belongs to the citizens of Decatur County.”

Willis said she has learned a lot during her eight-year tenure as the Clerk of Courts, and has been very fortunate to work with Judge A. Wallace Cato and others in the courthouse.
