As part of the annual River Town Days festival Leisure Services will hold a 5K race on Saturday. There will also be a one-mile pedal bike race for kids under the age of ten.

“I originally started it for both adults and kids, but last year we had such a huge turnout with the kids that I’m really hoping to grow the bike ride,” Event Organizer Valerie Faircloth said. “They get an armband for River Town days if they win.”

Registration for the 5K cost $20 up through March 8 and $25 from then through the start of the race. Registration for the kids’ pedal bike race costs $12 through March 8 and $15 from then through the start of the race. The registration fee for both races includes a t-shirt if you register before March 8, after that a t-shirt is not guaranteed.

“Kids having fun, that’s what our programs about,” Faircloth said.

In the 5K awards will be given to the top male and female finishers overall and the top three finishers in each age group. In the kids’ pedal race overall winners in each age group will receive a River Town Days unlimited ride armband.
