Danny Shepard

Danny Shepard, 74, of Bainbridge, Ga., passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016 at his residence.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brian Hatchett officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Interment will be at Roselawn Memory Gardens. Larry Miles, Charles Tyson, Harold Lambert, Charles Hart, Joe Barlow, James Sharber, and Larry Harrison will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Baraca Sunday School Class and the Orion Lodge #8 F.&A.M. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com. Dr. Shepard was born October 13, 1941 in Allendale, S.C., the son of Barney Francis Shepard and Clyda Evelyn Brown Shepard. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1959, and Andersonville Theological Seminary. Dr. Shepard was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, and was a trustee for over 20 years at the Georgia Baptist Children’s Homes. He was the retired owner of Hurt Paint and Body Shop.

Danny Shepard was a one-of-a-kind man. He could fix a ding in your vehicle before anyone knew what happened. He told it like it was but always made you feel good before you left his presence. Danny was kind and generous. He never met a stranger, at least you weren’t a stranger after you met him. Danny loved.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Gloria Mitchell Shepard of Bainbridge; his son, Glenn Shepard and his wife, Cindy, of Nashville, Tenn; his sister, Gail Gilley of Bainbridge; his sister- in-law, Patricia Shepard of Bainbridge; his niece, Kristi Gilley and his nephew, Scott Shepard .

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Barney Francis “Sonny” Shepard.
