Joe Henry Cloud, 81, of Bainbridge, passed away Friday, February 26, 2016 at his residence.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, February 29, 2016 at Morningside Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Dean and Dr. Ken Cloud officiating. Interment will follow at Oak City Cemetery. Franklin Smith, Cale Cloud, Seth Cloud, Ricky Inlow, Terry Bell, and Dan Bryant will serve as active pallbearers. The Deacons of Morningside Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Monday, February 29, 2016 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the service in the church. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com. Joe Henry Cloud was born July 23, 1934 in Bainbridge,  the son of Joe Cloud and Jessie Mae Strickland Cloud. Joe married Lena Toole on December 16, 1954. He retired from Englehard as a Catalyst Maintenance Foreman.

Joe loved his church, Morningside Baptist, where he served faithfully for many years. He reached out to others through his passion for gardening. Joe shared the fruits of his labor, especially hot pepper and squash, with anyone willing to receive. His visits always included laughing and “carrying on”. Joe’s kindness and gift of gab brought sunshine to most any day.

Survivors include his children, Joe Elvin Cloud of Pelham and Sherry Cloud Bell and her husband, Tommy, of Brinson; his siblings, Gloria Martin and her husband, Bill, and Melvin R. Cloud and his wife, Melba, all of Bainbridge; his grandchildren, Franklin, Seth, Daniel, Cale, and Christy; his great-grandchildren, Aubree, Avrahm, Cora, and Kellen; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Toole Cloud, and his brother, John Cloud.
