Three weeks remain until the 5th annual running of the Bainbridge Half Marathon, which will take place on Saturday, March 19. This year multiple new events have been added that will allow everyone to participate.

The event will include a kid’s fun-run of 1.1 miles, a 5k run/walk, a two-person relay race, the half-marathon and the all-new Corporate Relay Challenge.

The Corporate Relay Challenge allows Decatur County businesses to compete for the Memorial Cup that will be placed at the winning team’s business location for the entire year.

“Involving local business will support the foundation while implementing an annual fitness plan within their organization,” Greg Waddell, a half-marathon committee member, said.

Corporate Relay Challenge teams will made up of four team members. The first three members will each run a three-mile leg and the fourth member will run the final 4.1 miles. The fastest team to cover the total 13.1 mile distance will be declared the first Corporate Relay Challenge Winner and receive the Memorial Cup.

“All events will begin at Memorial Hospital and cover a fast course that includes the following scenic landmarks: historic downtown Bainbridge, Cheney Griffin Park, Chamber of Commerce, Lake Douglas residential areas, and Bainbridge State College,” Wadell said.

All competitive races begin at 7:00 a.m. and the kid’s run will start at 9:00 a.m.
