The Bainbridge High School Bearcats dropped an 85-71 decision to the Sandy Creek High School Patriots Friday in the second round of the state tournament.

The loss ended the Bearcats’ season and eliminated them from the state playoffs. They finished the year with a 21-9 overall record and a 13-3 record in region play.

“I am proud of all of our young men for the outstanding season they had,” Head Coach Rickey Mccullough said.

Tyree Crump led the Bearcats in scoring with 30 points. Also in double figures for the Bearcats were Devontae Jones with 16 and Trevon Shaw with 10. Rounding out the Bearcats scoring column were Myles Thomas with eight and Donta Williams with seven.

According to Mccullough the Patriots hot starts in both halves proved to be too much for the Bearcats to overcome.

“We shot well,” Mccullough said. “When you put three men in double figures as we did, you usually feel good about your chances, but give Sandy Creek credit. They got hot and stayed hot the entire game. They are an outstanding team and we just hit them on an outstanding shooting night.
