Darryl Lamar Edwards was born March 8, 1956 to the late Mr. Caleb Edwards and the late Carolyn E. Fortner in Cairo, Georgia. Darryl confessed to Christ at an early age. He was a dedicated member of Second Elizabeth M.B. Church, where he served on the Deacon Ministry. He was a member of the Male Chorus and served on the Usher Ministry. He loved his church family dearly and served faithfully until his illness. Darryl fought a good fight as he kept the faith until he was called into eternal rest on Friday, February 12, 2016.
Darryl graduated from Cairo High School in 1974. He continued his education at Thomas Tech, Albany State University, Darton College and in Atlanta where he studied Cardiology. Darryl was employed by Radio shack from 1975-1977. He later moved on to be employed by The Grady County EMS from 1981 until his illness in 2015.
Darryl was united in holy matrimony to Pamela Borden on March 11, 1995. She was the love his life. Darryl was very passionate about drag racing, fishing, his Harley Davidson motorcycle and his profession as a paramedic. He loved helping others in any way that he could.
Darryl leaves to cherish his memories, his loving, dedicated, devoted, and caring wife Pamela; five children: Melody (George) James, Monique (Terry) Florence, Shun Jackson all of Cairo; Tyise Jackson, Warner Robins, Georgia; Nickie Sarjeant of Tallahassee, Florida; nine grandkids; a host of nieces and nephews; one brother, Gary Lockhart of Cairo; Sisters, Julie Nobles and Vanessa (George) Coalbrooke of West Palm Beach, Florida; mother-in-law, Pearl Borden of Bainbridge; sisters-in-law Stephanie Dennis, Bainbridge, Renee Kimble, Donalsonville; Floretta (Roddrick) Copeland of Bainbridge, Veronica(David) Gaskins, Orlando, Florida; brothers-in-law, John (Cynthia)Borden of Midway, Florida; Clay Kimble and Arthur Borden Jr., of Iron City, Georgia; godson Fred Maynor Jr., of Havana, Florida; church daughter, Patrice Brown of Tallahassee, Florida. Darryl was preceded in death by a sister, Sabrina Lockheart; his grandparents Dempsey and Ellen Echos, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Edwards; father-in-law Arthur Borden Sr. and brother-in-law Nathaniel Dennis.
