A Corporate Relay Challenge has been added that will allow Decatur County businesses to compete for the Memorial Cup that will be placed at the winning team’s business location for the entire year. The Memorial Cup will have the Team and member names engraved combined with the event year.

The Cup will pass along to the following year’s winner and perpetually thereafter. Greg Waddell, half marathon committee member, stated “This is the committee’s way of returning the corporate cup back to Bainbridge. Involving local business will support the foundation while implementing an annual fitness plan within their organization.” Sponsor levels range from sponsor’s name on race shirt to mile marker signage.

The Corporate Relay Challenge will consist of four (4) team members. The first three (3) members will run a three mile leg, with the anchor leg consisting of a 4.1 mile distance. The fastest team covering the 13.1 mile distance will be declared the 1st Corporate Relay Challenge Winner and receive the coveted Memorial Cup.

Waddell further stated, “The Bainbridge Half Marathon marque event includes the open 13.1 mile distance for individuals age 13 and up. The race will begin at Memorial Hospital and cover a fast course that includes the following scenic landmarks, historic downtown Bainbridge, Cheney Griffin Park, Chamber of Commerce, Lake Douglas residential areas, and Bainbridge State College.” “A kid’s fun run of 1 mile will be included to promote fitness for our youth as well as a 2-person relay that consists of two, 6.55 mile distances each. Also included is a 5k event for those seeking an individual accomplishment of less than the half-marathon distance. The marathon committee is excited to have applied five fantastic events that will promote fitness and unite our community”.

All races begin at 7:00 AM with the kid’s run starting at 9:00 AM.
