Townzel “Tex” Ritter

Funeral services for Townzel “Tex” Ritter, 78, of Cairo, Ga., will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo.  Rev. Teddy Williamson will officiate.  Services will conclude at the Chapel.  Interment will be private.  Mr. Ritter passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at Grady General Hospital in Cairo.

Mr. Ritter was born on July 21, 1937, in Bainbridge, Ga. to the late Vernaway Ritter, and Ida Mae Strickland Ritter.  He was a heavy equipment operator with Owens Land Clearing.  On August 9, 1963, he married Joyce Harrison Ritter, who survives.  He was a member of Riders For Christ Cowboy Church.

He is survived by: his wife, Joyce H. Ritter of Cairo; son, David Tex Ritter of Cairo; daughter, Amy Belle Jackson of Cairo; grandchildren, Whitney Ritter of Griffin, Ga., Cody Ray of Fort Jackson, S.C., Austin Ray of Cairo; great-grandchildren, Dominique Ritter, Jayla Ritter, and Devin Ritter all of Griffin; brothers, Ray Ritter of Bainbridge, Johnny Ritter of Quincy, Fla., Vernon Ritter of Bainbridge, Wayne Ritter of Havana, Fla., Malcom Ritter of Bainbridge; sisters, Jean Givens of Bainbridge,  Sue Ritter of Attapulgus, Ga. Mary Ann Green of Bainbridge.

Mr. Ritter was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Jimmy U. Z. Ritter.  Memorials may be made in Mr. Ritter’s memory to the Attapulgus Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, Attapulgus Baptist Church, P. O. Box 10, Attapulgus, GA, 39815. The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Saturday, January 16, 2016, from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour.
