Little Leila Blocker was in such a hurry to be the New Year Baby at Memorial Hospital that she didn’t wait until her due date, January 29. In fact, her mother, Demetria Johnson, said she didn’t even make it to the delivery room. She surprised everyone by arriving suddenly in the patient’s room.

Leila weighed 5 lb., 8 oz. and was born Monday, January 4, 2016.

The father is Marcus Blocker, and grandparents are Mary Johnson and Ann Brook, all of Bainbridge.

Leila will join her 13-year old brother Jimmy Demetrius James and five-year old sister, Arian Blocker when she goes home.
