The Bainbridge High School wrestling team faced off against Thomasville and Cairo in their first duel matches of the season. The Bearcats fell to Thomasville 70-6 and Cairo 64-12. The Bearcats started both matches already down 18-0 after forfeiting the matches at 106, 113 and 120 pounds.

“We were simply out-experienced,” head coach Chad Smith said. “Both have tons of senior leadership and we are so young.”

The Bearcats also traveled to Childs High in Tallahassee over the weekend for the Timber Wolf Tournament. Tyler Storey placed second in the 160-pound division. Ryan Adams, Tre Storey and Peyton Register each placed fourth in the tournament.

“Just out-matched,” Smith said. “We have practiced a week and a half to everyone else’s month, month and a half. We should gradually improve as Region draws closer.”

This marked the second time this season that Adams and Tre Storey have placed as they both finished on the podium at the Cook County Tournament. Adams finished second in the 220-pound division and Storey came in fourth at 195-pounds.
