In her fifth year as BHS varsity coach, Thomas led the girls’ team to a third place finish in the region and a berth in the sweet sixteen of the state tournament.

The boys’ team won the region championship and made it to the final four of the state tournament.

“To get recognized for working with them feels great,” Thomas said. “We have had great players come through and done well as a team. I think it’s a reflection of how hard they work.”

Thomas was notified by email on Friday and invited to attend an awards banquet in Atlanta on Jan. 30.

“I think the kids make me look good,” Thomas said.
