Albany State basketball loses to Nova Southeastern

Zuri Frost recorded 12 points, five rebounds and five assists, but the Albany State Lady Rams dropped a 78-63 decision to the Nova Southeastern Lady Sharks in the 2015 Shark Holiday Classic. With the loss, ASU loses its fifth straight game and falls to 2-8 overall.
Nova improves to 11-1 overall.
As has been the trend this season, Albany State created another tough battle in the first quarter. The Lady Rams and Nova were deadlocked at 17 at the end of the first quarter.
However, ASU had another low-performing second period. The Lady Sharks held a 24-8 advantage to take a 41-25 halftime lead. In the second half, Nova led by as many as 28 points before the Lady Rams started scoring late to close the gap
Artisha Holston recorded 11 points and eight rebounds for Albany State before fouling out.
The Lady Rams shot 28-of-55 (50.9%) from the field, 1-of-6 (16.7%) from three-point range and 6-of-7 (85.7%) from the free throw line. They also committed 28 turnovers.
Taylor Buie led Nova with a game-high 18 points.
Albany State will return to action in 2016 when it restarts SIAC conference play. The Lady Rams will take on the Central State Lady Marauders on Saturday, Jan.2. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
