Bainbridge Public Safety is continuing to crack down on the drug problem throughout the city.

This continued over the weekend as BPS made multiple arrests related to the distribution of cocaine and “molly.”

Markeith Chrispen,23, was arrested Saturday evening and charged with Possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. Investigator Nix stated that he responded to a complaint about loud music coming from a car. Upon arrival Chrispen admitted that the car was his. According to Nix, Chrispen was “intoxicated and belligerent” and then ducked behind the car and attempted to flee.

As he was running Chrispen allegedly stashed a plastic bag containing 12 smaller baggies of cocaine in a bush. After apprehending Chrispen, Nix recovered the cocaine.

The encounter took place near the housing projects and a playground, so Chrispen is facing the additional felony charge of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute within 1000 feet of a park or housing project.

He is also facing a misdemeanor charge of obstructing or hindering officers.

According to Nix, Chrispen, who spent seven months in jail in 2013, was already on the radar of BPS prior to Saturday’s encounter.

An hour later, Joseph Ausgood, 24, was arrested with a quantity of cocaine in his possession after failing to come to a complete stop at a stop sign.

He is now facing felony charges for possession of a controlled substance.

The BPS crackdown continued Monday when it made two arrests related to the distribution of the popular street drug molly.

Willy Williams, 29, was arrested near the American Value Inn with about a quarter of an ounce of molly, digital scales and over $800 in cash. BPS officers also arrested

Vincent Burns, 23, and charged him with possession of controlled substance with intent to distribute after finding him in possession of seven bags of molly.
