Curtis L. Hamilton

Curtis L. Hamilton, 91, of Bainbridge, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2015 after a brief illness.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Earnest Purcell officiating. Interment will be at Roselawn Memory Gardens with Wendell Nix, Eric Hamilton, Curt Hamilton, Ed White, Palmer Rich, Charles Tyson, Wendell Blair Nix, and Luke Hamilton serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: First Baptist Church, P. O. Curtis was born in Aucilla, Fla., the son of John Henry Hamilton and Christianna Holland Hamilton. He was one of twelve siblings. He married Martha Evelyn Watkins in October 1954. Mr. Hamilton was a graduate of Aucilla High School and served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. Curtis was a graduate of the University of Florida where he attended on the GI Bill. He retired as a civil engineer with Engelhard.

Curtis was a true gentleman with a strong, quiet faith. He was an active member of First Baptist Church for many years and served others through his work with Bainbridge-Decatur County Habitat for Humanity. His gentle spirit earned him the accolades of his community by being named Decatur County Man of the Year.

Survivors include his son, Craig Hamilton and his wife, Lynn; his daughter-in-law, Pam Hamilton; his grandsons, Eric Hamilton, Curt Hamilton and his wife, Susan, Luke Hamilton, Pierce Hamilton, Nathan Hamilton, and Evan Hamilton; his great-grandson, Graham Hamilton; and many beloved nieces and nephews and his sisters-in-law, Marceline Hamilton and Eunice Hamilton.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Evelyn Hamilton and his son, Scott Hamilton.
