Bearcats crowned SOWEGA Champions in 50-8 rout over Tigers

The Washington Tigers had no chance of stopping the seventh grade Bearcats Wednesday at Centennial Field.

Bainbridge attacked the Tigers early and kept up a steady drive on every possession to win the SOWEGA Championship 50-8.

Running back Reshad Broadnax had three touchdowns.

Bainbridge was first on the board with an 11-yard run from running back Jvon Lee, followed by a successful 2-point conversion by Broadnax to make the score 8-0.
Broadnax scored next on a 44-yard interception return, followed by Lee blasting in the end zone for a 2-point conversion.

Broadnax found the end zone again on a 61-yard run with 3:25 left in the first quarter. Quarterback Quayde Hawkins passed to receiver Caleb McDowell for the 2-point conversion, but the ball was dropped.

McDowell more than made up for it by scoring on the next series with a 6-yard run, followed by a failed 2-point conversion, to make the score 26-0. McDowell later scored on a fumble recovery that he returned for 49 yards. Fullback Courtney Thomas score the 2-point conversion and the Bearcats were leading 34-0 with 2:12 left in the second quarter.

Broadnax score his third touchdown with 52 seconds left in the half on a 59-yard run, followed by a Lee 2-point conversion to make the score 42-0.

Running back Daylon Cosby scored the last Bainbridge touchdown of the afternoon on a 1-yard run, followed by a successful 2-point conversion to make the score 50-0.

The Tigers managed to find the end zone with 3:43 left in the game on a 4-yard run.

The Bainbridge seventh grade team has won 22 of the last 27 games and has won the SOWEGA Championship three of the last four years.
