Louise Tye Ellis, 88, of Bainbridge, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at her residence.
The graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2015 at Boothill Family Cemetery with Rev. Jamie McMillan officiating. Jeff Parrish, Gene Parrish, Fred Walker, Colby Kennedy, Bradley Wilham, and Josh Godwin will serve as active pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 515 Jacksontown Road in Bainbridge. Memorial donations may be made to West Bainbridge Baptist Church, 801 Griffin St, Bainbridge, GA 39817. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com.
Mrs. Ellis was born November 11, 1926 in Shorterville, Alabama, the daughter of John Walter Tye and Charity Elizabeth Kirkland Tye. She married Lewis Odell Ellis in February 1945. Mrs. Ellis was a member of Zion Free Will Baptist Church. She retired as a presser for Jack Winter Corporation.
For nearly 60 years Mrs. Ellis shared her gifts of cooking, sewing, and crocheting with those in the Faceville community. She loved her family and especially enjoyed fishing, camping, and dancing with them. Mrs. Ellis had a heart for others and always reached out to those in need.
Survivors include her children, Margie Ruth Ellis Odom and her husband, Jim, of Bainbridge, Mary Louise Ellis French of Meigs, Ga., Eleanor Merle Ellis Massey and her husband, Tommy, of Calvary, Ga., Judy Eloise Ellis Holt of Ashford, Ala., Donna Sue Ellis Tomlinson of Bainbridge, and Aubrey Dale Ellis and his wife, Peggy, of Bainbridge; her 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her siblings, Tullis Tye, Marion Tye, Frank Tye, Tom Tye, John Walter Tye, Nellie Shellhouse, Beatrice Kirkland, and Evelyn Radney; and her two grandchildren, Lance Develon Kennedy and Jason Daniel Parrish.
