Drane Smith, 82, of Bainbridge, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2015 at Memorial Hospital.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Turner and Rev. Mike Brown officiating, and will conclude at the church. Interment will be at Brinson Cemetery with Chuck Rich, Rick Ragan, Greg McDonald, Justin Coleman, Rick Burhans, and Matt Palmer serving as active pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Monday, October 5, 2015 at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at

Drane was born May 29, 1933 in Atlanta, Ga., the son of Julian C. Smith and Laura Merle McTyre Smith. He was a graduate of Leon County High School and the University of Florida. He retired as treasurer of Flint River Mills in 1995. He was a Past President of the Bainbridge Jaycees, and served as Georgia Regional Chairman and as a Director of the U. S. Jaycees. He was Past President of the Bainbridge Rotary Club, a Paul Harris Fellow, Past President of the Georgia Feed and Grain Association, Past President of the Bainbridge Country Club, and a member of First United Methodist Church.
Drane was a die-hard Florida Gator fan and he loved golfing.
Survivors include his wife, Harriett Thigpen Smith of Bainbridge; his children, Charlotte Smith Davis and her husband, Rusty, of Bainbridge, Chipper Smith of Bainbridge, and Harry Smith and his wife, Amy, of Lake City, Fla.; his brother, Bill Smith and his wife, Cynthia, of Tallahassee, Fla.; his sister, Judy Davis and her husband, John, of McDonough, Ga.; and his grandchildren, Amanda Leigh Davis of Ocala, Fla., Caroline Smith of Thomasville, Ga., and Trae Smith of Bainbridge.
