Lady Cats softball claws Crisp Co.

Coach Chris Bryant’s Bainbridge High School varsity and junior varsity Lady Cats swept a double header against Cordele’s Crisp County High School varsity and junior varsity Lady Cougars Thursday at the Lady Cats Diamond.

The varsity Lady Cats defeated the varsity Lady Cougars 4-2 and the junior varsity Lady Cats defeated the junior varsity Lady Cougars 0-0.

The varsity Lady Cats, who are 5-4 in Region 1-AAAA play and 7-10 overall, grabbed a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. On back-to-back solo home runs by second baseman Shelby Summerlin and first baseman Tori Sprenkle they added single runs in the third and sixth innings.

Right fielder Mabry Grace Briggs had a solo home run in the third. Center fielder Haley Thompson doubled in the sixth inning run.

The win over the Lady Cougars Improved the Lady Cats varsity record to 5-4 in Region 1-AAAA play and 7-10 overall. They were scheduled to host a Region 1AAAA game against the Westover High School Lady Patriots on Tuesday. They are scheduled to play a non Region 1-AAAA game against the Miller County High School Lady Pirates Thursday.

The Region 1-AAAA Tournament will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, October 6, 7 and 8 in Albany.
