GCA Lady Cougars continue undefeated region play

Coach Erwin Harrell’s Grace Christian Academy Lady Cougars volleyball team improved their overall record to 9-2 with a 3-1 victory over the Community Christian School Lady Chargers of Tallahassee at Perry Memorial Gymnasium last Friday.

They won the first set 25-21, dropped the second set 19-25, won the third set 25-22 and won the fourth set 25-10. They were led by Kelsey Harrell with 15 kills and seven digs, Kaitlyn Holcombe with nine kills and six ace serves, Abigail Mills with seven kills, Lindsey Duke an 18 of 18 100 percent serve percentages, Sarah Castoro with 12 digs and Lindsey Duke with 29 assists.

Coach Harrell praised his team’s performance against the Lady Chargers.

“The Lady Cats played great tonight,” he said after the game. “It was our third match this week and I was a worried they might be a little fatigued. Community Christian is a scrappy team but we fought back after we lost the second set.”

The Lady Cougars, who are 4-0 in Georgia Independent Schools Association Region 2, will embark on a road trip this week. On Thursday they will play First Presbyterian Christian School in Hinesville, on Friday they will take on Memorial Day School in Savannah, and on Saturday they will take on Frederica Academy in Saint Simons. They will return home Monday September 28 to host Aucilla Christian Academy at 6 p.m.
