Funeral services for Donald Rufus Knight, Sr., 84, of Whigham, Ga., were at 11 a.m., Thursday, September 17, 2015, at Union Springs Baptist Church, Whigham, GA.  Rev. Tim Harrell, Rev. Steve Poppell and Rev. Stacey Glover officiated.  Interment will be in Union Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Whigham, GA.  Mr. Knight passed away at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital on Monday, September 14, 2015.

Active pallbearers were his grandsons: Adam Knight, Bradlee Knight, James Knight, Jr., Stacy Knight, Johnny Knight, Jason Knight, Dale Callahan, Chad Cooper, Carson Knight, Landon Knight, and Abrum Knight.

Mr. Knight was born on February 5, 1931, in Whigham to the late Joe Elbert Knight and Mattie Lou Poppell Knight. On November 5, 1964, he married Jean Adams Knight, who survives.  He retired as a logger from the timber industry.  He was a member of Union Springs Baptist Church in Whigham.

Survivors include: his wife, Jean Adams Knight of Whigham; children, Bobbie Jean Shockley (Charles) of Bainbridge, Darlene Cooper (Ricky) of Climax, Cathy Tucker of Whigham, Donald Knight, Jr. (Gina) of Gardiner, Montana, James Knight (Tonya) of Whigham, Mitch Knight (Lori) of Whigham, Robby Knight of Whigham, Joe Knight of Whigham; 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; brother, Bobby Joe Knight (Angela) of Whigham.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; grandchildren, Clint Knight, Gina Cooper Thompson, Pearson Martin; sister, Margaret Long; and a brother, Louis Knight.

The family received friends at Mr. Knight’s home, 1038 Clarence M. Road, Whigham, on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
