Lady Cats win big against Americus-Sumter

Coach Chris Bryant’s Bainbridge High School Lady Cats softball team improved their Region 1-AAAA record to 3-1 and their overall record to 5-4 with a dominating 20-1 victory over the Americus-Sumter County High School Lady Panthers Monday in Americus.

The Lady Cats scored 20 runs in the first three innings to seal the victory early. A nine-run first-inning rally, which included an RBI double by Makayla Hamilton, a three run double by Bailey Rayfield, a steal of home by Taylor Swanner and an RBI single by Mabry-Grace Briggs.

The Lady Cats added 10 runs in the top of the second and a single run in the top of the third.
A two run double by Thyra Jackson, an RBI single by Briggs, an RBI single by Hamilton, who went three for three on the day, an RBI single by Tori Sprenkle and four wild pitches highlighted a 10-run second inning rally.

Pitcher Reilly Fletcher was in command all the way. She allowed just one hit, no earned runs did not walk a batter and struck out three while going all the way.

The Lady Cats plated their final run in the top of the third inning. They will return to action Thursday when they travel to Thomas County for a Region 1-AAAA game with the Thomas County Central High School Lady Yellow Jackets.
