Richard Michael Atkinson, 68, of Camilla died Monday, August 17, 2015 at
Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, August 20 at Southside
Baptist Church with interment in Oakview Cemetery with military honors.
Rev. Neal Hager and Dean Atkinson will officiate.
Active pallbearers will be Tracy Tabb, Jud Vann, Roy McKenzie, Jason
Lewis, Lee Ethridge, and Josh Wiggins.  Honorary pallbearers will be the
area law enforcement.
Born April 24, 1947 in Bainbridge, Mr. Atkinson was the son of the
late Floyd Eugene Atkinson and Ellene Willis Atkinson. He was a veteran
of the United States Army. Mr. Atkinson worked with Brinson Bail Bond
Company as a bonding agent. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who was always
there to lend a hand to others.
Survivors include his wife, Jennifer Dean Lodge Atkinson of Camilla; a
daughter, Tammy Atkinson Miller of Thomasville; three sons, Richie
Atkinson Duncan of Sylvester, Chris Atkinson and wife, Lahoma, of Camilla,
and Anthony Dean Atkinson and wife, Therese, of Pelham; five
grandchildren, Ashley Miller, Annabelle Atkinson, Macy Atkinson, Gunner
Atkinson, and James Pickelsimer; six siblings, Carolyn Hirsch & husband,
Leonard, of St. George Island, Kay Callahan of Tallahasse, Fla. Gene
Atkinson & wife, Charlotte, of Bainbridge, Leon Atkinson & wife, Sandy, of
Bainbridge, Rhonda Scott of Virginia Beach, Va., and Lloyd Atkinson & wife,
Amy, of Bainbridge; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 19 at Parker-Bramlett
Funeral Home in Camilla.
