Susie Bell Calhoun Turnage

Susie Bell Calhoun Turnage, 88, of Tallahassee, Fla., passed away Monday, August 10, 2015.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Robert Lecce officiating, and will conclude in the chapel. Interment will be at Oak City Cemetery.

Mrs. Turnage was born October 17, 1926 in Whigham, Ga., the daughter of Thomas Jefferson Calhoun and Carrie Joiner Calhoun. She was a homemaker, a member of Evangel Assembly of God Church in Tallahassee, and loved her church family.

She and her husband, Curtiss, enjoyed traveling together on trips to the west coast, the mountains, Turnage family reunions, Climax, Georgia school reunions, and especially the Civilian Conservation Corps annual reunion.

Survivors include her sons, Larry Turnage and his wife, Ann, of Dothan, Ala., Ernie Turnage of Tallahassee, and Tommy Turnage of Gainesville, Fla.; and her daughters, Jean Billingsley and her husband, Richard, of Tallahassee, and Florence Brown and her husband, Randy, of Whigham; her brother, Phil Powell of Lake City, Fla.; her sister, Carmen Futch of Lake City; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtiss Turnage; her brothers, T. J. Calhoun, Wilburn Calhoun, and Herbert Calhoun; and her sisters, Joyce Jones and Edith Ruth Calhoun.
