Former Bainbridge High School Lady Cats first team All-Region 1AAAA and first team All-Area basketball center Patra Parris will be playing for Albany’s Darton State College Lady Cavaliers in the 2015-16 basketball season.

Parris averaged 16 points and 10 rebounds a game while helping lead coach Kelvin Cochran’s Lady Cats to a spot in the State Class AAAA Tournament as a senior in 2014-15. She was a team captain and the team’s leading scorer, rebounder and shot blocker.

She helped lead the Lady Cats to a 71-17 victory over the Worth County High School Lady Rams at the Americus-Sumter County High School Gymnasium putting them in the State Class AAAA Tournament.

In the first round of the State Class AAAA Tournament, Parris and the Lady Cats dropped a tight 62-58 decision to the Veterans High School Lady Warhawks in Kathleen.
Lady Cats coach Kelvin Cochran said Parris did a solid job of rebounding, blocking out and scoring down low.

“You could always depend on Patra to come up with a big rebound and key points in clutch situations,” coach Cochran said. “When she was double teamed she continually found the open player and got the ball out to them for an open shot. She hustled every minute she was on the court.”

At Darton State Parris will play for former Miller County High School Lady Pirates and University of Tennessee Lady Volunteers star Lea Henry.
