Philip K. Barber, 73, of Bainbridge, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2015 at his residence.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Piland and Rev. Roy Matthews officiating. Interment will follow at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery with David Napier, Dale Tyre, Jay Parker, Donald Barber, Steve Davis and Buddy Rentz serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be his Bell South co-workers.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Ivey Funeral Home. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com.

Philip was born April 29, 1942 in Bainbridge, the son of Herbert Cleveland “Hub” Barber and Willa Powell Barber. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1960, and was a cable repairman with Bell South Telecommunications until his retirement in 1994. Mr. Barber was a farmer, a member of the Bainbridge Jaycees, and served on the Decatur County DFACS Board and in the Georgia National Guard. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Beverly Piland Barber of Bainbridge; his children, Stacey Barber and his wife, Jessica, of Swainsboro, Ga. and Cindy Jordan and her husband, Jody, of Rockmart, Ga.; his grandchildren, Madelyn Barber, Jackson Barber, Anna Marie Jordan and Cleveland Jordan; and his sister, Wanda Matthews and her husband, Remus, of Bainbridge. He was preceded in death by his brother, Everette Barber.
