Barracudas compete at state

Coach Heather Battenberg’s Bainbridge Barracudas swim team turned in strong efforts Friday and Saturday at the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association District 3 Swim Meet in Tifton.

“We had 14 swimmers at the District 3 Meet and they all did a wonderful job,” coach Battenberg said. “Competition was very tough considering there were 31 teams and 688 other swimmers from through the district competing.”

The Barracudas 10-year-old and under girls medley team of Ali Bennett, Carissa White, Ramsey Mathes and Christie Whitaker finished a strong ninth which gave them an alternate spot in the finals division.

Other strong Barracuda swimmers were Allee Dickson, who swam the 7 and 8 year old girls individual medley and finished eighth in the finals division, Dawson Cottles, who swam in the who swam in the 9 and 10 year old boys division and finished eighth in the for the finals division, Dax Willis, who swam in the swam in the 13 and 14 year old boys division and finished seventh in the individual medley.

Also turning in strong performances in individual events Friday were Jewel Anvar in the 8 year old and under girls division, Josh Fillingame in the 13 and 14-year-old boys division and Ramsey in the 10 year old and under girls division.

The 15 to 18 year old girls medley and freestyle relay teams of Masey Tabb, Rendi Harrison, Katie Campbell and Haley Helms were Carla Hernandez and Thad Whitaker.

Masey Tabb finished a strong fifth in the 13 and 14 year old girls 50 yard backstroke, shaving there seconds off her original time with a time of 34.80.
The Barracudas will conclude their season with a meet against Mariana, Florida, on the road.
