Apparent murder-suicide spans two counties

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation released the names of the two victims of an apparent murder-suicide Sunday morning in Grady County and Decatur County.
On Sunday, July 19 at approximately 8:24 a.m., the Grady County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported shooting that occurred at 499 Jordon Road in Grady County. Family members reported that Jamie Sandefur, 39, had been shot by her husband, George Sandefur, 55. Jamie Sandefur was shot with an assault style rifle inside her residence. Jamie Sandefur was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital where she later died from her injuries, according to the GBI.
After the shooting, George Sandefur left the residence and traveled to 281 Hines-Perkins Road in Whigham, Decatur County. Deputies with the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Hines-Perkins address where George Sandefur was found with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. George Sandefur was transported to Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville where he died later Sunday afternoon.
According to the GBI, George Sandefur was previously arrested on June 28, 2015 for Simple Battery-Family Violence and Terroristic Threats where Jamie Sandefur was the victim.
