Bainbridge State College Adult Education is gearing up for a new academic school year. Classes have already started in Decatur and Early Counties—but it’s not too late to sign-up for courses. Miller and Seminole Counties will begin classes August 3.

The Adult Education program is open to individuals interested in completing their Georgia High School Equivalency Degree (GED), as well as those wanting to strengthen their literacy and math skills.

Each student is tested to find his or her academic level and an individual study plan is created specifically for them. Students work individually in a classroom setting and with computer-based programs. All classes and preparation are free.

According to Debbie McIntyre, Adult Education Program Administrator, the Adult Education program assists students by giving them skill for careers, while also benefiting their families and community.

She said, “Earning a GED or increasing literacy skills changes the lives of not only the student, but their families and community as well. It makes people more employable and capable of functioning in today’s society.”

In Decatur and Early Counties, evening classes are offered on Monday and Tuesday, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., at the BSC Shotwell Education Center, located at 315 S. Boulevard Drive, Bainbridge. Evening classes give people who are working the opportunity to attend classes after work.

Classes in Miller and Seminole Counties are held Monday through Wednesday from 8 a.m. until noon at 96 Perry St., Colquitt; and 203 E. Sixth St., Donalsonville.
