Pair arrested for cocaine, firearms

Sunday evening, Bainbridge Public Safety received an anonymous tip that resulted in the arrests of two Bainbridge men on drug and firearm charges.
“The info leads officers to the 1100 block of Powell Street at what appeared to be an abandoned house with several people around it,” BPS Investigator Mark Esquivel said.
Esquivel said that people fled, including Derrick Terriel Smart, who dropped a .38 special pistol. Smart, along with three others were apprehended and questioned by investigators.
Officers found six small baggies of powdered cocaine and one small baggy of Molly that Lance Eugene Washington told investigators belonged to him.
Smart was charged with obstructing officer and weapon – possession of firearms by convicted felon.
Washington was charged with controlled substance – possession of controlled substance and controlled substance – possession with intent to distribute cocaine.
