Bainbridge All Star baseball team dominates district tournament

The Bainbridge Leisure Services Department’s 11-and-12-year-old All Star baseball team won the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association District 3 champions with three wind last week in Tifton.

They opened the double elimination tournament with a 19-5 victory over the Cairo All Stars on Saturday, June 20, continued with a 12-0 victory over the Thomasville All Stars on Monday, June 22, and concluded with a 15-1 Tuesday, June 23, victory over the Thomasville All Stars.

They Bainbridge All Stars will play the District 6 champion East Point All Stars in the first round of the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association State Tournament Tuesday, July 7, in Tifton.

In their initial victory over Cairo’s All Stars, the Bainbridge All Stars were led by pitcher Caden Brock, who hit a home run. Also seeing action on the mound were Braxton Johnson and Jase Godwin.

In Monday’s win over the Thomasville All Stars, Nolan Barr hit a home run and pitchers Quayde Hawkins and Jase Godwin combined for the shutout.

In Tuesday’s victory over the Thomasville All Stars, pitcher Quayde Hawkins and Gunner Thomas hit home runs and Hawkins and pitcher Braxton Johnson shut down the offense.
