Laura Francis Lane Easom, age 78, of Donalsonville, passed away Friday morning, June 26, 2015 at her residence.
Funeral services for Mrs. Easom were held on Sunday afternoon, June 28, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Donalsonville, with Dr. Ron McCaskill, Dr. Calvin Arnold, and Rev. Michael Wingertsahn officiating. Interment followed in Jakin Cemetery with Gaines Pearce, Clay Pearce, Jerry Pearce, Mark Spooner, Chad Widner, Lanier Lane, and Doug Lane serving as active casketbearers. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Easom was born in Bainbridge, on Nov. 4, 1936 to Thomas Clay Lane, Sr. and Lila Russell Lane. She worked for many years as a secretary for Farm Credit, the position from which she retired, prior to becoming a full-time homemaker. Mrs. Easom was an active member of First Baptist Church, Donalsonville. She was a member of the Garden Club and enjoyed her flowers and gardening, furnishing flowers for the church at Jakin Baptist for many years. She served on many committees at the church, and especially enjoyed working on the food committee and making pecan pies for different occasions. Mrs. Easom loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Alan Pearce and wife Nena, Mike Pearce, Clark Pearce, Todd Pearce, Susan Sims and husband Alan, and Elaine Yorong and husband Lorenzo; her grandchildren, Lauren Pearce, Gaines Pearce, Allison Pearce, Alana Pearce, Jerry Pearce, Ashley Sims, and Clay Pearce; a great grandson, Paul Hornsby; two sisters, Merle Davis and Joy Lane; sisters-in-law, Donna Lane, Alice Lane, and Patty VanWyck and husband Mike; and a brother-in-law, Ed Scarborough. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Easom was preceded in death by her parents, Clay Lane, Sr. and Lila Lane; her husband and father of her children, Jerry G. Pearce; her husband, William Wayne Easom, Sr.; three brothers, Clay Lane, Billy Lane, and Dave Lane; a sister, Marijane Scarborough; two brothers-in-law, Ray Spooner and Hunter Davis; two sisters-in-law, Doris Lane and June Lane; as well as one grandson.
Evans Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
