Barracudas put in best performance of summer season

The Bainbridge Barracudas swim team finished fifth while compiling 940.5 points and turning in their strongest overall performance at Saturday’s Thomasville YMCA Invitational Meet.
Top performers in their individual events included Kara Overman, who was third in the 6 year old and under girls 25-yard backstroke, Jewell Anvar, who was third in the 7 and 8 year old girls 25-yard backstroke, Dax Willis, who was second in the 9 and 10 year old girls 25-yard breaststroke, third in the 9 and 10 year old girls 100-yard individual medley and third in the 9 and 10 year old girls 25-yard butterfly, and Haley Helms, who was third in the 15-to-18-year old girls 50-yard breaststroke.
Six relay teams finished third in their events. They included the girls 8 year old and under 200-yard medley relay team of Kara Overman, Ava Bennett, Jewel Anvar and Allee Dickson, the boys 13 and 14 year old 300-yard medley relay team of Josh Fillingame, Dax Willis, Thad Whitaker and Eion Turner and the girls 15 and over 200-yard medley relay team of Massey Tabb, Rendi Harrison, Katie Campbell and Haley Mims.
Also finishing third were the girls 8 year old and under 100-yard freestyle relay team of Mary Claire Killlough, Ava Bennett, Jewell Anvar and Allee Dickson, the boys 13 and 14 year old 200-yard freestyle relay team of Josh Fillingame, Dax Willis, Thad Whitaker and Brandon Carvajal and the girls 15 and over 200-yard freestyle relay team of Randi Harrison, Katie Campbell, Haley Helms and Masey Tabb.
Three relay teams finished fourth. They included the 10 year old and under girls 100-yard medley relay team of Ramsey Mathews, Carissa White, Ali Bennett and Christie Whitaker, 13 and 14 year old girls 200-yard medley relay team of Crystal Carvajal, Brooklyn Willis, Karli Willis and Mary Claire Killough and the 13 and 14 year old 200-yard freestyle relay team of Crystal Carvajal, Brooklyn Willis, Karli Willis and Carissa White.
The girls 10 year old and under 100-yard freestyle relay team of Eamsey Mathews, Christie Whitaker, Ali Bennett and Aby Hyler finished seventh.
Many Barracudas also received ribbons for finishing first in their individual heats. The team is now hard at work preparing for their Georgia Recreation and Parks Association District 3 Swim Meet on Saturday, July 11, in Tifton.
