He began working at Memorial Hospital in April 1993, 22 years ago, and on June 19 Dr. Gordon C. Miller will retire from his practice of cardiology.
A luncheon reception was held by the hospital and manor staff in his honor on June 11. His long years of service were recognized with appreciation and a commendation from Nathan Deal, Governor of Georgia for demonstrating his unwavering commitment to the profession of cardiology and recognizing his many years of service.
It was read and presented by hospital CEO Billy Walker. Memorial Authority President, Glennie Bench surprised Dr. Miller by announcing that the Cardiology Lab is being named The Gordon C. Miller M. D. Cardiology Lab, in his honor, and displayed an engraved plaque that will be placed on the door.
In Dr. Miller’s brief comments, he said he appreciated the opportunity of being able to work with the staff and treating some of the people in attendance. He thanked the Lord for sustaining and protecting him through the years and for letting him know when it was time to quit.
Dr. Miller, a 1962 graduate of the Medical College of Georgia, worked in Columbus Georgia for 23 years before moving to Bainbridge.
He anticipates enjoying time to work on some projects he has in mind and will continue to read and study and work in the woods.
