Mrs. Marjorie Hornsby Spooner, age 87, of Donalsonville, passed away Tuesday evening, June 9, 2015 at Seminole Manor Nursing Home.
Funeral services for Mrs. Spooner will be held on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, with Dr. Ron McCaskill and Rev. Michael Wingertsahn officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Cemetery with her grandsons serving as active pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, June 11, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home.
Mrs. Spooner was born in Seminole County, Georgia on October 11, 1927 to Maurice Hornsby and Mildred Arnett Hornsby. She was a homemaker and also worked some as a substitute teacher in the Seminole County School System. She had been a former member of the Home Demonstration Club and the Garden Club. Mrs. Spooner was a member of First Baptist Church in Donalsonville.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Steve Spooner and his wife Elaine of Sumner, Ga., Mike Spooner and his wife Lynda of Donalsonville, June Spooner Meadows of Acworth, Ga., Neal Spooner and his wife Brenda of Iron City, Ga. and Richard Spooner of Iron City; two brothers, Murray Hornsby and his wife Betty of Bainbridge, and Larry Hornsby and his wife Mary Ellen of Iron City; two sisters, Carolyn Bridges and her husband John of Brinson, and Faye Whittaker of Donalsonville; a sister-in-law, Teri Hornsby of Iron City; and two special friends, Carol Williams and Annis Weakley. Mrs. Spooner is also survived by her grandchildren, Melissa Spooner Brock and her husband Jason, Bo Spooner and his wife Jodi, Greg Spooner and his wife Karen, Michael Spooner and his wife Christy, Brad Spooner and his wife Stephanie, Ron Spooner, Ryan Meadows and his wife Candice, Amanda Guider and her husband Jeremy, Kenneth Spooner and his wife Gaga, Matt Spooner and his wife Larimee, Pam Spooner Brackin, Jennifer Spooner, and Anthony Burch; as well as 26 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Spooner was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice Hornsby and Mildred Arnett Hornsby; her husband, RF Spooner; two brothers, Phillip Hornsby and Ray Hornsby; and one sister, Dorothy Hornsby.
