The Bainbridge High School Bearcats basketball team posted two impressive victories Tuesday at their annual team camp at the school gymnasium.

They opened with a 97-28 victory over the Ashford Alabama High School Yellow Jackets and concluded with a 61-43 victory over the Seminole County High School Indians, who won the 2014-2015 State Class AA championship. Bainbridge led Ashford 49-10 at the half and was tied with Seminole County 25-25 at the half.

The Bearcats will play in the Cairo High School Syrupmakers team camp next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and travel Thursday and Friday to Tallahassee to take part in the Florida State University Seminoles camp.

Bearcats coach Rickey McCullough said he was very pleased with his team’s camp efforts against the Yellow Jackets and Indians.

“We played well and had a lot of good team chemistry,” McCullough said following his teams two camp efforts.

Top performers for the Bearcats included shooting guard Tyree Crump, who has verbally committed to the University of Georgia Bulldogs, center Trevon Shaw and forward Myles Thomas.

Seminole County is the defending State Class AA champions and they lost just one player to graduation.

“Team camps during the summer are very important,” McCullough said. “We did a lot on good things but we also know we have some things we need to work on. Overall the camp is very beneficial.”
