The Grace Christian Academy varsity cheerleaders recently attended the Universal Cheerleading Association’s Cheer Camp at Edgewater Resort at Panama City, Florida.
The camp ran from Thursday, May 28, to Sunday, May 31. During camp, the girls learned cheers, chants, dances and stunts. The instructors at camp were all college cheerleaders. The instructors cheer for Kentucky, Clemson, USC, UGA, UCF, UF and Tulane. Each night the squad was evaluated on their performances.
The girls received two blue superior ribbons and the spirit stick (for the most spirited squad) during camp. On the final day, the girls won a Superior Award, third place in the band dance, and the “whale” award (this was awarded to the most determined, hardest working squad).
Since 1974, the Universal Cheerleading Association has instilled leadership skills and personal confidence in more than four million athletes on and off the field. UCA is recognized as America’s cheerleader, and are the trusted authorities, advisors, mentors and friends of these young women, their coaches and school leaders. UCA has transformed cheerleading into a dynamic, athletic combination of high-energy entertainment and traditional school leadership. This vision created a spirit explosion that continues today at UCA camps across the country and around the world.
