Funeral services for Joe Barron Weeks, 78, of Whigham, Ga., are at 3 p.m., Saturday, June 6, 2015, at Tired Creek Primitive Baptist Church, Whigham. Elder Jon Mizell will officiate. Interment will be in Tired Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Whigham. Mr. Weeks passed away at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Tallahassee, Florida, on Wednesday, June 3, 2015.

Active pallbearers will be Earl Sasser, Donald Walden, Al Coutant, Steve Maxwell, Mike Brock and Brian Durham.

Mr. Weeks was born on October 7, 1936, in Louisville, Miss., to the late Oscar B. Weeks and Elsie Cutts Weeks. He grew up and graduated high school in Memphis, Tenn. Joe graduated from Southwestern (Rhodes College). He served his country in the U.S. Army. On December 22, 1962, he married Hilda Durham Weeks, who survives. He attended law school at Memphis State University and went on to practice law from 1968 to 2013.  He was a member of Tired Creek Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors include: wife, Hilda Durham Weeks of Whigham; son and daughter-in-law, Paul Durham and Mary Betts Weeks of Dothan, Ala.; grandchildren, Jason Weeks of USAF Germany, Anna Weeks of Dothan, Davis Weeks of Dothan; and a brother-in-law, William Durham of Tallahassee. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Friday, June 5, 2015, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
