The Bainbridge High School Bearcats summer league junior varsity and varsity baseball teams split four games this week.
On Tuesday, coach Blake Cecil’s junior varsity Bearcats dropped a 6-0 and 13-3 double header to the Valdosta High School junior varsity Wildcats in Valdosta.
On Thursday, coach Brian McCorkle’s varsity Bearcats beat the Cairo High School Syrupmakers 6-2 and Tallahassee’s Chiles High School Timberwolves 7-3 in Cairo.
Coach McCorkle said his varsity Bearcats threw strikes in Cairo and the defense made plays behind them.
“I was really pleased the efforts of our pitchers in Cairo,” coach McCorkle said. “Right handers Cayden McQuaig, Lawson Lane, Will Kelley, Russell Wheeler all pitched well in Cairo. Defensively I thought shortstop Keith Lyle, center fielder Tyler Story and catcher Griffin Long all had strong performances.”
