YMCA Barracuda swim team set for a busy summer in the water

Swim Team The Bainbridge-Decatur County YMCA Barracudas Swim Team will open their season Saturday when they travel to Tifton to compete in the Tift area Title Wave Invitational Meet.
The team practices Monday through Friday at the city of Bainbridge Pool on Potter Street. Monday and Tuesday practice sessions are from 6:15 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday practice sessions are from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., Thursday practice sessions are from 6:15 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday practice sessions will be from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
YMCA aquatics coordinator Jennifer Clements said the YMCA swim team offers young swimmers an opportunity to participate in a great team sort that they can practice all year.
“Members of our YMCA summer swim team can learn how to swim better and faster, and make new friends,” she said.
The YMCA swim team will participate in YMCA and Georgia Parks and Recreation Meets.
Saturday’s meet in Tifton will be the first of eight meets the Barracudas will be participating in this summer. They will travel to Valdosta Saturday, June 6, to compete in the Valdosta YMCA Invitational Meet.
Rounding out the team’s June schedule will be the Moultrie Invitational Meet Saturday, June 13, the Thomasville Invitational Meet Saturday, June 20, and the Fitzgerald Invitational Meet Saturday, June 27.
The Barracudas will close out their season with three July meets. On Saturday, July 11, they will participate in the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association District 3 Meet, Friday and Saturday, July 17 and 18, they will participate in the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association Class B and C State Swim Meet and on Saturday, July 25, they will participate in the Marianna Florida Dual Meet.
