BHS soccer players recognized

The Bainbridge High School Bearcats and Lady Cats soccer teams were honored for their outstanding achievements Wednesday at the school cafeteria.
The Bearcats went 11-7 overall and 7-3 in Region 1AAAA play and the Lady Cats went 10-8 overall and 7-3 in Region 1AAAA play.
Both teams advanced to the first round of State Class AAAA playoffs.
It was the fifth year in a row that the Bearcats recorded 11 wins and the fourth year in a row that they advanced to the state playoffs. The Lady Cats’ seven Region wins were the most ever by a Lady Cats soccer team and their 10 overall wins tied the 2010 Lady Cats for the most in school history.
The Bearcats and the Lady Cats All Region 1-AAAA players were recognized from both teams.
Named to the All Region 1-AAAA first team were Bearcats forward Leroy Rivera, who led the team in scoring with 20 goals and had seven assists, Lady Cats central defender and team captain Rebecca Mulkey, who scored 10 goals, which was the second most on the team and had three assists.
Named to the All Region 1-AAAA second team were Bearcats defender Jesus Contreras, who had six goals and had 13 assists, Bearcats defender Alex Ward, who was team captain and scored six goals, Lady Cats midfielder Jennifer Becerra, who led the team in goals with 11 and assists with six, goalkeeper Morgan Cannon, who recorded seven shutouts and had 64 saves and a .711 save percentage.
Honorable mention Akk-Region 1-AAAA selections were Bearcats Jacee Castri, Mkisael Rodriquez, Maurico Granados, Corey Morrison, Evan Aldecker and Bryce Williams and Lady Cats Derrical Williams, Lilly Gomez, Ileen Marquez, Summer Boyd, and Haley Thompson.
