Bainbridge Middle School Bearcats head baseball coach Christopher Bryant has been named head coach of the Bainbridge High School Lady Cats softball team.

He replaces Amy Thomas, who led the Lady Cats to a couple of outstanding seasons. “Coach Thomas, and coach Eugene Singletary before her, laid a solid softball foundation at Bainbridge High School,” coach Bryant said. “Coach Thomas also led the Bearcats tennis team to the Elite Eight Round of the State Class AAAA Tournament.

Coach Bryant is a 2007 graduate of Bainbridge High School where he caught for coach Scott Miller’s Bearcats baseball team and played center for coach Greg Guy’s Bearcats football team.

“Coach Scott Miller his assistant, coach Donnie Lee Coxwell and coach Guy really taught me a lot about their sports and coaching young people,” coach Bryant said. “They taught me to love the game I am coaching and always concentrate on fundamentals.”

Coach Bryant, who teaches special education at Hutto Middle School, earned a degree in special education at Albany State University in 2011.

“We are excited he accepted it,” BHS athletic director Stan Killough said. “He’s a good quality person, a hard worker and we look forward to what he will do.”
He plans to hold middle school Lady Cats softball tryouts May 18 through May 20 and high school Lady Cats softball tryouts May 26 through May 28 at the Lady Cats high school diamond.
