Funeral services for Preston Leon Mitchell, 77, of Cairo, Ga., are at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church, Cairo. Rev. Whit Byram will officiate. Services will conclude at the Church. Private interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo.

Mr. Mitchell passed away at his home in Cairo, on Sunday, May 10, 2015. He was born on December 4, 1937, in Meigs, Ga., to the late Albert Leroy Mitchell and Fannie Mae Hall Mitchell. He served his country in the National Guard. On December 29, 1957, he married Wynell Harrell Mitchell, who survives. He retired from the insurance industry.  He served as an active Shriner and Mason for many years and enjoyed spending his free time playing golf at the Cairo Country Club. He was a member of the Cairo First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include: wife, Wynell Harrell Mitchell of Cairo; daughter, Susan M. Prince (Robin) of Cairo; son, Mark Mitchell (Gina) of Bainbridge; grandchildren, Christopher R. Mitchell of Cairo, Christian M. Nix (Brian) of Colquitt, Ga., Daniel Jones of Whigham, Ga., Kalen Jones of Bainbridge, Cameron Prince of Laurinburg, NC, Jarin Prince of Atlanta, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Brenden Mitchell of Bainbridge, Haylee Nix, Peyton Nix, Brooklyn Nix, all of Colquitt; brothers, Herschel Mitchell (Lucille) of Fort Mead, Fla,, Jimmy Mitchell (Justine) of Cairo, Bobby Mitchell (Jean) of Cairo; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: parents; grandchildren, Thomas Mitchell, Clifton Jones, Jr.; brothers, Roscoe Mitchell, Wendell Mitchell; sisters, Fannie Myrtle Hall and Clara Mae Collins.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
