Mr. William Anthony (Tony) Williamson, age 73, passed away Tuesday, May 05, 2015, at his home in Decatur County, Georgia. Services for Mr. Williamson will be held at
11 a.m., Friday, May 8, 2015, at Climax Methodist Church in Climax, Georgia. Rev. Lynn Hurley and Rev. Wayne McDonald will officiate. The interment will follow in Delwood Cemetery with Wesley Darley, Treaver Pollock, J. E. Foister, Jimmy Pollock, Ray Powers, Buddy Gilley, and Treaver Lee Pollock serving as pallbearers. The Albany Fire Department Honor Guard will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Thursday, May 7, 2015, at Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Bainbridge, Georgia.
William Anthony (Tony) Williamson was born July 22, 1941 to Guyton Elwell Williamson and Berta Lucile Solley Williamson, in Americus, Georgia. Tony married Mary Louise Wilder. He and Louise were married for 48 years. Mr. Williamson was proud to serve as a fireman for the City of Albany, Georgia. He rose to the rank of Captain and retired after 30 years of service. He also worked as a paint contractor. When Patrick, the son of Tony and Louise, was young, Tony volunteered as little league coach. He loved to hunt and to fish. Tony Williamson will be sorely missed by the family and friends he loved so dearly.
Tony Williamson is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Louise Wilder Williamson of Climax, Georgia; son, Patrick Williamson and wife, Katelynn; grandchildren, Charlie Wayne Williamson and Riley Louise Williamson, all of Tallahassee, Florida; nieces, Dana Walker and husband Neville of Marietta, Georgia, Douglas Cantrell and wife, Jane of Powder Springs, Georgia, and Gail Hyatt and husband, Alan of Powder Springs; great nieces, Kayla Hyatt and Abby Hyatt of Powder Springs; and sister-in-law, Anne Avant-Logue of Tallahassee.
