Bearcats take second, Lady Cats claim fifth at region track meet

The Bainbridge High School Bearcats finished second and the Lady Cats finished fifth this past weekend at the Region 1-AAAA Track Meet in Albany.
A number of performers from both teams qualified for the Sectionals this weekend in Carrollton.
Bearcats qualifying for sectionals included Jaylyn Scott, who was the Region 1-AAAA champion in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 40.55, Victor Bodison, who was the Region 1-AAAA champion in the long jump with a leap of 21-feet-8.5-inches, Chase Harris, who was the Region 1-AAAA champion in the 3200-meter run with a time of 10:07.62, Poncherelle Leonard, who was the Region 1-AAAA champion in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:59.26, and Cervantes Jackson, who was Region 1-AAAA champion in the triple jump with a leap of 46-feet-9.5-inches and the high jump with a leap of 6 feet.
Lady Cats qualifying for sectionals included Uriiyah Davis who was third in the 1600-meter run with a time of 6:00.28 and third in the 3200-meter run in a time of 3:06.79 and Jamia Powell, who was fourth in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:47.98.
