Doris Tomlin Godby, age 81, of Brinson, passed away Friday, April 10, 2015 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Ala.
Funeral services for Mrs. Godby were held on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, Ga. with Rev. Kim Whitehead officiating. Interment followed in New Enterprise Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery in Iron City, with Madison Tomlin, Donnie Ray Miller, Malory Miller, Wendell Hall, Beau Hatcher, Chuck Miller, Dee Trawick, Jim Bishop and John Emory Trawick serving as casketbearers. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Godby was born in Airton, Ala. on June 14, 1933 to Jessie Lee Tomlin and Minnie Glenn Tomlin. She was a housewife and a member of Highway Free Will Baptist Church.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Gloria Faye Sensor and her husband George of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; her sons, Johnny Gary Godby, Sr. of Brinson, Gerald Lee Godby and his wife Amanda of Brinson, and Michael Godby and his wife Holly of Donalsonville; her sister, Katrine Fleming; her grandchildren, Samantha Lynn Smith and her husband Lavon, Shelby Godby, John Michael Godby, Emma Godby, Jessica Lynn Godby, Aleshia Michelle Turner and her husband Jeffery, Johnny Gary Godby, Jr., Matthew Carlton Godby, B.J. McLendon, Mickey McLendon and nine great- grandchildren. She is also survived by Marsha Miller, Ashley Miller,Susie Tomlin, Genny Bishop, Madison Tomlin as well as several other nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Godby was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie Lee Tomlin and Minnie Glenn Tomlin; her husband, John Henry “Jay” Godby Jr.; her brother and sisters, Thelma Angeline Davis, Johnny Carolyn Leary, Nellie Velma Tomlin, and Derrell Hilson Tomlin.
Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge.
