Bearcats top Westover Patriots with 9-0 shutout

The Bainbridge high School Bearcat downed the Westover High School Patriots 9-0 Monday in Albany to increase their Region 1-AAAA baseball record to 8-4.
The Bearcats jumped out on top 3-0 in the top of the first inning. Left fielder Carson Inlow opened the inning with a single and moved around to third on a double by third baseman Will Kelley. Shortstop Keith Lyle then doubled in both runners to put the Bearcats up 2-0. Lyle came in with the third run when first baseman Seth Hall banged out a single.
The Bearcats rallied for another run in the top of the second to increase their lead to 4-0. Stanton Long singled, stole second and came in. Will Kelley was safe on an error. They added one in the fifth and four in the sixth to conclude the scoring.
The big blow in the sixth was a two run single by Noah Bryant.
The Bearcats, who are 9-9 overall, return to action today when they host the Thomas County Central High School Yellow Jackets in a Region 1-AAAA game at the Bearcat Diamond. Action will get underway at 6:30 p.m. On Friday they will travel to Albany for a Region 1-AAAA game with the Monroe High School Tornadoes.
