Bearcat, Lady Cat basketball players earn region recognition

The Bainbridge High School Bearcats and Lady Cats basketball teams placed seven players on the All Region 1-AAAA basketball coaches All Region 1AAAA teams.
Making the first team were the Bearcats Tyree Crump and the Lady Cats Patra Parris. Crump averaged 22.6 points a game, 4.7 rebounds a game, 3.3 assists a game and 1.8 steals a game.
Parris averaged 16.2 points a game, 10.4 rebounds a game, 1.1 assists a game, and two steals a game
Making the second team were Bearcat Trevon Shaw, Lady Cat Alexandria Carter, and Lady Cat Nadia Marshall. Shaw averaged 12.9 points a game and 7.5 rebounds a game.
Carter averaged 11.4 points a game, 2.2 rebounds a game, 1.6 assists a game and 2.8 steals a game. Marshall averaged 10.5 points a game, 8 rebounds a game and 2.2 steals a game.
Making the third team were Bearcat Myles Thomas and Lady Cat Tameria Levens. Thomas averaged 7.4 points a game, 6 rebounds a game, and 1.4 assists a game.
Bearcat Devontae Jones made honorable mention All Region 1-AAAA. He averaged 3.6 points a game, 2.7 rebounds a game and 1.3 assists a game,
Bearcats coach Rickey McCullough and Lady Cats coach Kelvin, who both led their teams to strong seasons, praised the hustle and strong play of their players.
“We hustled and played hard the entire season,” McCullough said “We fell a little short but were very competitive every night”.
“We went 21-8 and made it to the first round of the State Class AAAA Tournament,” Cochran said. We had a special group of young ladies who rebounded, shot and defended well. They were focused every night and were a pleasure to coach.”
