Lady Cats soccer shut out by Syrupmaids

The Bainbridge High School Lady Cats soccer team dropped a tight 2-0 Region 1-AAAA decision to the Cairo High School Syrupmaids Monday, March 27, at Centennial Field.
The teams featured strong defensive efforts in the first two quarters while battling to a 0-0-halftime tie.
The Syrupmaids finally broke through in the 63rd minute of the second half when senior midfielder Savanna Devalle got by the Lady Cats defense on the right side and scoring on a breakaway from eight yards out to put them up 1-0.
The Syrupmaids scored their second goal with less than three minutes remaining in the game. When one of their foewards connected on a crossing pass to the left side of the Lady Cats penalty area and sent a bouncing shot from nine yards away that was just out of the reach of Lady Cats goal keeper Morgan Cannon who finished the contest with four saves.
After the game with the Syrupmaids the Lady Cats were 7-6 overall and 6-2 in Region 1AAAA play. They will return to action Tuesday, April 7 when they host the Brooks County High School Lady Trojans at 5 p.m. at Centennial Field and they will return to Region 1AAAA action Friday, April 10 when they travel to Sylvester for a 5:30 p.m. game against the Worth County High School Lady Rams.
