Middle school baseball defeats TCC after rain delayed game

The Bainbridge Middle School Bearcats baseball team downed the Thomas County Central Middle School Yellow Jackets 7-4 Tuesday in the completion of a Friday rain delayed second-round game of the Southwest Georgia Middle School League’s double elimination Flint River Middle School Tournament at Bill Reynolds Sports Park.
The Bearcats led the Yellow Jackets 3-2 after four innings Friday when the game was suspended. Shortstop Sam Boutwell, Myles Holloway and Kaleb Varnum all had RBI singles for the Bearcats.
The Bearcats and Yellow Jackets completed their game on Tuesday. Their big scoring inning Tuesday was the fifth when they scored their final three runs to break a 4-4 tie.
Austyn Holcome and Kaleb Varnum banged out back-to-back singles to open the inning. Sam Boutwell then walked to load the bases. Brad Mitchell then followed with a three-run base clearing double.
The Bearcats opened play in the double elimination tournament Tuesday, March 17, with a 6-2 opening round loss to the Macintyre Park Middle School Bulldogs in Thomasville.
The Bearcats took the early lead over the Bulldogs with one run rallies in the first and fourth innings. Shortstop Sam Boutwell singled and stole second third and home in the first and Myles Holloway walked, stole second and third and came home on a single up the middle by Kaleb Varnum in the fourth.
